(CHICAGO) Illinois Lawmakers have passed a resolution denouncing hate groups.
The measure condemns white supremacists and other groups and received unanimous support in the Illinois House. State Rep. Elgie Sims (D-Chicago) sponsored the resolution.
On Sunday the Illinois Senate passed a similar resolution passed Wednesday. That resolution urges police to treat hate groups as terrorist organizations.
The actions come after the weekend violence in Charlottesville, Virginia,
