(CHICAGO) Chicago Board of Elections is reporting a security breach by one of it vendors.
Cyber security detective Chris Vickery found a data breach at E S & S, Election Systems and Software, the vendor that provides electronic polling books.
At the Chicago Board of Elections, Jim Allen says Amazon Cloud servers were mistakenly switched from private to public access for 1.8 million registered voters,
“This file included all of the information needed to process voters on election day with electronic poll books. That included unfortunately personal identifying information like dates of birth, last four digits of social security numbers were available, drivers license numbers were available and items of that sort.”
No word yet if any bad guys saw this information, but he says taxpayers certainly won’t pick up the tab for what he calls this “extreme disappointment.”
