(CHICAGO) — Nearly 10,000 elite, amateur and youth triathletes will descend upon Chicago’s lakefront Saturday, August 26th and Sunday, August 27th to compete in the 2017 Transamerica Chicago Triathlon produced by Life Time.
The Chicago Triathlon is the nation’s largest and the fifth oldest triathlon in the world. This year, the event brings together participants from 47 states and 19 different countries, ranging in ages from 7 to 82 years old. 60 Para Triathletes will compete in this year’s events.
In addition to the International and Sprint distance events, the race weekend also consists of the Life Time Kids Triathlon – now in its 28th year – as well as the SuperSprint Triathlon designed for new entrants to the sport. The Life Time Kids Tri is the largest kids triathlon in the country with more than 1,000 participants ranging from ages 7 to 14.

SATURDAY, AUGUST 26, 2016 CLOSED BETWEEN:
- Columbus Drive: Roosevelt to Balbo SAT 8/26 at 5:00 AM until SUN 8/27 at 7:00 PM, All lanes closed to traffic
- Simonds Drive: Foster Ave to Montrose SAT 8/26 at 5:00 AM until SAT 8/26 at 12:00 PM, All lanes closed to traffic
- Lake Shore Drive, Randolph St Exit Ramp SAT 8/26 at 11:00 AM until SUN 8/27 at 4:00 PM, Northbound exit ramp only
SUNDAY, AUGUST 27, 2016 CLOSED BETWEEN:
- Lake Shore Drive: Randolph to Hollywood SUN 8/27 at 5:00 AM until SUN 8/27 at 12:30 PM, Inner two lanes restricted to bicycles only (outer two lanes remain open to traffic)
- Lower/Intermed. Wacker Dr: Jackson to Lake Shore SUN 8/27 at 6:30 AM until SUN 8/27 at 11:20 AM, All lanes closed to traffic. No traffic obstructions on Upper Wacker.
- McCormick Place Busway: Entire Route SUN 8/27 at 6:30 AM until SUN 8/27 at 11:45 AM, Closed to motor coach access
- Intermediate Columbus Dr: Randolph to Water St SUN 8/27 at 6:30 AM until SUN 8/27 at 12:00 PM
Northbound lanes closed
- Lower Columbus Dr: Randolph to Wacker Dr SUN 8/27 at 6:30 AM until SUN 8/27 at 11:45 AM, All lanes closed
- Intermediate Randolph: Columbus Dr. to Lakefront SUN 8/27 at 5:00 AM until SUN 8/27 at 12:30 PM, All lanes closed to traffic; exceptions for local traffic
