(CHICAGO) — A former Arizona sheriff who was convicted for disobeying the law then pardoned by President Trump, says he stands ready to help the president if he is called upon.
Former Arizona Sheriff Joe Arpaio is thanking the president for his support after he received a presidential pardon Friday.
“It’s not right, but I’m a fighter. I have to thank the president. I supported him from day one in 2015 and I will continue to do so whether he gave a pardon or not. I’ll be with him to the end so that’s how I feel. I have a deep respect for the president. They ought to get off his back and let him do his job,” Arpaio told the Big John and Ramblin’ Ray show on WLS.
He says anything the president want’s, “he’s going to get if from me.”
Many supporters of President Trump believe that Arpaio’s prosecution for disobeying a court order to stop racial profiling was a political hack job. Arpaio was found guilty of contempt of court.
