(CHICAGO) West Suburban Democratic Congressman Dan Lipinski appeared on WLS Thursday morning, just after his White House visit to discuss a massive, multi-billion dollar infrastructure plan. President Trump has expressed support for a plan to rebuild roads, bridges, pipelines, and airports throughout the country, and Lipinski told “The Big John and Ramblin’ Ray Show” on WLS that he thinks the idea is one on which Democrats and Republicans can agree.
Lipinski says he feels the odds of a infrastructure bill passing this year are greater than the odds of the tax reform proposal that the President introduced on Wednesday.
“Tax reform I want to see happen, but it’s gonna be a very very heavy lift to get that done”, said Lipinski, “I’m thinking at the end of the year we’re gonna get to a point where Republicans and the President are looking for a victory and something that we can work on together is infrastructure. Hopefully we can get that done.”
Lipinski says he discussed infrastructure at the White House Thursday morning with DJ Gribbin, who is the Special Assistant to the President for Infrastructure Policy. Even though Lipinski is a Democrat, he says he is willing to work with Trump and Republicans. In fact he is one of the 35 members of the House Problem Solvers Caucus, a bi-partisan group which meets on a regular basis to discuss issues on which they can agree.
