(CHICAGO) GasBuddy.com says since Monday prices for a gallon of regular unleaded in the Chicago area have jumped almost 20-cents to $2.95 per gallon and it’s due to refinery maintenance, a major pipeline outage, and low gas inventories.
The website says prices around Chicago could soon exceed 3-dollars per gallon and won’t ease until the Explorer Pipeline, which runs from Houston to Glenpool, Oklahoma, is fixed. That could still be days away. Even so, Patrick DeHaan with GasBuddy says refinery maintenance will still be a problem.
