(CHICAGO) Cook County Board President Toni Preckwinkle has a primary challenger. Former Alderman Bob Fioretti is running against her.
Fioretti is hoping to get the pop tax protest vote. Even tho the much-hated penny per ounce pop tax is going away December first, Fioretti tells WLS that doesn’t mean Preckwinkle wouldn’t try to bring it back, “This leadership campaign eight years ago on repealing the sales tax. They repealed it. Remember Ben Franklin and what he said and all those ads with Ben Franklin? And now we found out it was repealed for one year and came back the following.”
But the Preckwinkle campaign says she has broad support across the county and is in a strong position to win re-election.
