(CHICAGO) Under immense pressure, embattled Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool has finally resigned under an ethical cloud.
Only a few days after the CPS Inspector General’s recommendation Claypool be fired went public and a day after Mayor Emanuel defended him, Claypool quit.
The IG said Claypool repeatedly lied to him and tried to cover-up his handling of a CPS legal conflict of interest.
Taping Connected to Chicago for Sunday night at 7, Former interim CPS CEO Jesse Ruiz, now a candidate for Atty General, argued that resignation was the right thing to do, “You can’t lie to an inspector general. You simply cannot. While I always believe in forgiveness and redemption, there always have to be consequences. It’s what I teach my own children.”
Taking over for Claypool will be CPS Education chief Janice Jackson.
