(CHICAGO) Under pressure, Chicago Public Schools CEO Forrest Claypool has resigned over a breach of ethics.
Claypool had to go because he was starting to affect the mayor’s re-election chances. He apologized again for his breach of ethics but also said this, adding “I hope when this chapter of my story is written, people will say that even good men can make stupid mistakes.”
At his side was Mayor Rahm Emanuel, who paid tribute to his longtime friend, “He has always gone to work with his sleeves rolled up ready to get the job done. I can say he can walk out with his head help high because he did a good job and he will always be my friend.”
Claypool was near tears as the mayor said it.
