(CHICAGO) A city tow truck driver has gotten a long prison sentence for a towing scam.
Nine years in prison is the sentence for Lennie Perry. In 2014 before he was fired as a city tow truck driver, he allegedly towed a woman’s parked car late at night at Columbus and Balbo. Then he waited for her to come for her car after sight-seeing and told her she could get it back for a $150 bribe. When she said she didn’t have the cash, Perry’s wife was conveniently across the street and agreed to take her to an ATM and then her car. The victim then called police.
There was evidence he did this again to at least two other victims.
So he got 9 years for bribery and official misconduct. His wife pleaded guilty and got 2 years of second-chance probation.
