(CHICAGO) Starting today it is costing more money to ride Metra. The Metra Board passed a fare increase this past November and it officially went into effect today. It means one way tickets will go up 25 cents in all zones.
It also means monthly passes will go up between $9 and $12.50 a month.
Ten ride tickets will cost between $4.25 and $7.75 extra.
In addition to the far hikes Metra is also cutting some trains, as it tries to deal with a $45 million budget deficit.
