(CHICAGO) Gun control votes are coming up in the legislature in Springfield this week, and Mayor Rahm Emanuel told a hundred new police recruits how they and others should vote about the issue in the next election.
Even before the votes, Emanuel is urging voters in the March 20th Primary to vote against legislators who vote against on gun control.
“Watch what they do this week, and if they vote no, you gotta vote the vote,” Eamnuel said, “You gotta show up with as much energy and as much committment as those who do not support an assault weapons ban, do not support a waiting period for the purchase of an assault weapon, do not support raising the age from 18 to 21. And this vote coming up this week should not be about the political safety of an elected official, but should be about public safety.”
But the other side says more government control is not the answer, more guns in the hands of good guys is.
