(CHICAGO) In the gun control debate, Mayor Emanuel has a new challenge for Governor Bruce Rauner.
Mayor Emanuel says he’s sending a letter to Rauner signed by him and all 50 aldermen urging him to sign the gun shop licensing bill before the March 20th Primary.
“His silence is deafening and it’s heard across the State of Illinois, said Emanuel, “Tell us where you stand by signing the bill! Now I know he said once before he wasn’t in charge. Well, the bill’s on his desk. He can show he’s in charge when it comes to public safety.”
Rauner is unlikely to sign the bill before the primary because he’s got a gun rights challenger who would use it against him.
