(CHICAGO) The three leading Democrats for Governor in the March 20th Primary debated on Channel 11 Wednesday night, and some analysts are saying Chris Kennedy did himself a lot of good.
Kennedy took off the mittens and got agressive against frontrunner JB Pritzker. At one point he swiveled on his stool, stared at Prizker and demanded he stop running an ad saying Kennedy wants to tax retirement income, saying “Look at me in the eyes, let me tell you I’m not for that. Please stop running those lies!
Pritzker: You’ve got a different position today than you’ve had during this campaign.
Kennedy: Nope
Pritzker: You have said several times during this campaign that you are open to retirement taxation. If you change your position, that’s fine, that’s good, but I am opposed to taxing retirement income.
Kennedy: So you’ll take those ads down? Is that what you’re saying?
Pritzker: Have you changed your position?
Kennedy: That is not what you want in a governor. A guy like that who will lie to get a job is gonna lie to keep it.
Both Kennedy and Pritzker attacked Biss and while he was playing defense a lot, he worked to show himself to be, as he claims in his TV commercials, the middle class candidate in the race.
