(CHICAGO) The City Council License Committee is recommending that signs be posted in stores that sell tobacco, warning customers that cigarette alternatives are also dangerous to their health.
Too many teenagers are illegally buying e-cigarettes, cigars, and snuff. City Health Commissioner Dr. Julie Morita says tobacco companies even entice teenagers with tiny, easy-to-hide electronic products called jewels or fixes that are as small as a flash drive.
“You charge them with a USB and it vaporizes the liquid that contains the nicotine,” said Morita, “It has a strong flavor like a fruit flavor, cotton candy or gummy bear.”
Dr. Morita says kids wouldn’t use these products if they understood the risks associated with them.
