(CHICAGO) Mayoral challenger Troy LaRaviere says Mayor Rahm Emanuel belongs in prison pinstripes.
LaRaviere is often provocative. Taping Connected to Chicago with Bill Cameron for Sunday night at 7, he claimed Mayor Emanuel knew about and covered up the corruption of his now-imprisoned school CEO Barbara Byrd-Bennett and the infamous Laquan McDonald video before the last election.
“He should be in pinstripes right now,”said LaRaviere, “but he’s still the sitting mayor of our city. He seems to know how to weather a storm, to talking-point his way thru a storm and move on to the next crisis. It’s almost as if the crises help him in some way because the next crisis make people forget about the last one. The next corrupt scandal clouds peoples’ minds and memories about the last corrupt scandal.”
Cameron: “He should be in pinstripes?”
LaRaviere: “Yes.”
Mayor Emanuel has always denied knowing about or covering up both Barbara Byrd-Bennett’s corruption or McDonald video before the last election. Pete Giangreco, Emanuel’s campaign spokesman said “We choose not to respond to childish name calling”
