(CHICAGO) In the race for Chicago mayor, a political deal between political enemies appears to be percolating.
Rahm Emanuel could do himself a lot of good if he could get his 2015 runoff opponent Chuy Garcia – who’s now heading to Congress – to endorse him for re-election.
One way to help achieve that would be to name Garcia’s ally – Ald Rick Munoz – chairman of the City Council Aviation Committee.
Retiring chairman Ald Mike Zalewski – an ally of Rahm and Mike Madigan – is dropping this hint, “I think if the mayor and the congressman-elect can get together, it’s going to help both of them. And I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s happening as we speak.”
So, we may be seeing another case of no permanent enemies in politics, only permanent interests.
