(ORLAND PARK) Two women who worked as servers at the Twin Peaks restaurant chain are filing a federal sexual harassment lawsuit against the company. The women say the restaurant where they worked in Orland Park forced them to wear lingerie and bikinis, and subjected them to degrading conditions.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission suit says the Twin Peaks management required the women to line up on a weekly basis so male managers could “score” their bodies, hair and makeup. The suit alleges that the women who received the highest scores got the best serving locations in the restaurant and made the most money.
Sarah Blaylock and Daryll Rodriguez both worked as bartenders at Twin Peaks in Orland Park before leaving the restaurant last year. Also joining in their lawsuit is 31 year old Kenneth Biggers, a busboy who says management and co-workers discriminated against him and harassed him for being gay.
Twin Peaks CEO Joe Hummel issued a statement to the Chicago Tribune saying that Twin Peaks “Does not tolerate any type of harassment or discrimination and has strict policies and training practices in place to make sure every guest and employee is treated equally and with great respect.” Hummel also said “We look forward to vigorously defending ourselves against these outrageous and baseless allegations. Since this is an ongoing legal matter, it would be inappropriate to discuss further specifics.”
