(DIXON, IL) –– The teenager accused of firing shots at the Dixon High School Wednesday has pleaded not guilty.
Matthew Milby appeared in court via a video link Friday from the Lee County Jail. The judge in the case denied lowering his $2 million bail. Milby’s attorney had asked that bail be reduced to $500,000.
Officials say Milby opened fire as seniors were meeting for graduation rehearsal. The 19-year-old was shot by a school resource officer who since has been hailed as a hero.
His next court hearing is scheduled for Wednesday. The weekend graduation ceremony will go on as planned.
