(SPRINGFIELD) Illinois House Speaker Mike Madigan has asked the legislative Inspector General to investigate the claim by Democratic St Rep Kelly Cassidy that Madigan has retaliated against her for wanting an independent look at sexual harassment in state government and for opposing a bill he wants.
The passive aggressive speaker is daring Cassidy to prove it. She quit a part time job at the sheriff’s office and blamed Madigan. He’s denying it and is asking the IG to referee it.
It’s classic Madigan. As he put it a couple of years ago, “I don’t get upset about anything around here!”
And he’s always denied he pressures Democrats to do anything, “As long as I’ve been a leader – and that’s been a long time, just ask the Tribune – I’ve never even attempted to develop a caucus position. Never attempted.”
Still, some in Springfield are saying the flap shows how there are Democrats are trying to undermine Madigan.
