(CHICAGO) In the campaign for mayor, the mayor and the police superintendent he fired are at it again.
One of Garry McCarthy’s raps on Mayor Emanuel is that he micromanages the police dept for the look of the political optics of everything, “He wanted to know everything that was going on, which is his right. Then he would question why we weren’t this, why we weren’t doing that, why we weren’t doing the other thing. I would give him reason after reason why we weren’t doing it until eventually I would say, you know what mayor, we’ll do whatever you want. And these were in staff meetings. And then he’d stop and say, no, no, you’ll have to do whatever you think is best.”
Before leaving for China, Rahm fired back, noting “If you go back, he had a completely different position as police superintendent and it was a long set of statements when he said that, that are different from what he just said today, or is about to say.”
And there you have the latest example of Rahm’s opposition research being so good, he knew what McCarthy would say before he said it!
