(CHICAGO) At City Hall, powerful Ald Ed Burke got a rare rebuke this week in the City Council.
Ed Burke’s going to get a strong challenge for re-election from a Latino.
It’s no coincidence he’s been railing against the Heartland Alliance for alleged abuse of “waifs” as he calls them – young children separated from their parents by Trump policies at the Mexican border.
But Ald. Ameya Pawar got on his feet in the city council to say Burke’s playing politics with the issue when Trump is the one to blame, noting “The president is a bad person. Where are we as a country when we impugn social service providers for our political ends?”
Burke’s also expected to get flack for his past work as Trump’s real estate lawyer here in Chicago.
