(LAKEMOOR, Ill.) — A man who was shot and killed by an officer Thursday morning in north suburban Lakemoor allegedly pulled two guns on responding officers.
A Lakemoor police officer was on patrol near Four Seasons Boulevard and Sullivan Lake Road around 5 a.m. when he noticed a suspicious vehicle parked in a narrow, gravel roadway. Upon checking things out, Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Chris Covelli says the man inside pulled a gun.
“During their encounter at some point, as we understand it, the adult male produced a firearm,” Covelli said. “There was some sort of struggle that occurred over this firearm.”
When a second officer arrived to provide backup, Covelli says the suspect pulled out another gun.
The officers “engaged the individual” and shot him. The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.
An investigation is underway.
