(CHICAGO) President Trump’s Supreme Court nominee Bret Kavanaugh has been meeting with senators who will be at his confirmation hearings next month and he’ll meet with Sen. Dick Durbin this morning.
It’s a courtesy call that will NOT produce a Durbin vote for Kavanaugh.
Durbin says he’s against Kavanaugh because he had to pass a litmus test by two conservative organizations: the Federalist Society and the Heritage Institute, noting “That’s offensive to me! You don’t see any reference to the Federalist Society or the Heritage Institute in the U.S. Constitution.”
While Durbin also says Republicans are withholding documents about Kavanaugh’s record, so far the Democrats don’t have the votes to stop Kavanagh’s confirmation.
