In the race for mayor, challenger Paul Vallas says “the verdict is already in” for the upcoming trial of Officer Jason Van Dyke for the infamous killing of Laquann McDonald.
The trial hasn’t even started, but Vallas has his verdict.
“You just worry about how the public will react to the verdict,” said Vallas, “Obviously, that has created a lot of anxiety. We have to be prepared for every contingency. I think the damage done politically to the mayor and to others (means) the verdict is already in. They either saw the video and lied about it or it was sheer negligence in them not viewing the video. They certainly covered it up until after the election.”
Vallas also says it was “cruel and unusual” for the mayor to close mental health clinics and he vowed to open up to 20 of them.
