In an interview with Bill Cameron and the Sun-Times this morning, Mayor Emanuel was talking for the first time about the deadly fire that took ten lives.

The mayor tells us there is a lot of educated guessing going on about fireworks and smoking materials on the premises, but he’s not satisfied we’ve found out how it happened and how to prevent it from happening again.
So, does the mayor have questions?
“Are you kidding!? There are a lot of questions in my mind. I’ve asked Judy (Frydland), I’ve asked Jose (Santiago) of the Fire Department and the Building Dept and everybody – and I don’t wanna (cuss) – I said, what the (pauses) happened here!? And I left the word out.”
Rahm said the “good news is we haven’t had this type of loss of life for years, so a lot of the preventive stuff we’ve done over the years has worked, but he said, we’ve got to find out “what happened here.”
