For the second time this week, Bill Cameron says Mayor Emanuel teared-up in public this morning talking about a big rite of passage in his family.
—
This Labor Day weekend, the mayor and his wife Amy are taking their daughter to Princeton for her freshman year. So, they’re about to become empty-nesters and he talked about it at this year’s Safe Passage Rally ahead Chicago public schools opening next week.
“Amy and I set up this tradition with our first one, the little one’s gotta make dinner and we just have dinner with that child, just Amy and I. Unfortunately, she’s a vegan, so I had to eat vegatables all night. Ugh! But then you just talk about things as a parent. And you watch your little one, this kid that used to be on your chest is now on her way and become the young woman.”
