The body of the late Sen John McCain lays in state today in the Capitol Rotunda.

On the floor of the Senate this week, Senator Dick Durbin said McCain cast one of the most courageous votes in the history of of the senate.
“What I remember now more than anything is that middle-of-the-night vote. He walked thru that door, having just spoken on the telephone to President Trump. He came to the well of the Senate and he stood right next to that table. And because he had limited motion in his arm because of that plane crash and torture in Vietnam, he barely lifted his right arm, pushed his thumb down and said no. With that no vote, he preserved health insurance for millions of Americans and he invoked the ire of conservative Republicans who will never forgive him for that moment.”
