While some have scoffed at the idea of President Trump and his proposed “Space Force,” astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson is thinking about it in more logical terms.
Tyson defended the idea of a “Space Force” by saying: “almost everything we care about in modern civilization that we think of as modern civilization is today enabled, magnified, or distributed or contributed to by space assets.”
While Tyson is supportive of the idea of a “Space Force,” he also wants the President to focus attention on space debris and protecting citizens from rogue asteroids.
“A lot of Trump haters want to hate everything that comes out of Trump’s mouth. I’m an academic; I analyze everything. And just because it came out of Trump’s mouth doesn’t automatically mean it’s a crazy idea.”
