During a speech to the International Association of Chiefs of Police, President Trump called for more police forces to adopt ‘stop and frisk’ policies.
Speaking in Orlando on Monday, Trump praised Rudy Giuliani’s use of stop-and-frisk during his time as NYC mayor, saying it turned New York into “one of the safest cities in the country”.
The President also called for Chicago to consider the controversial policy, saying stop-and-frisk was “meant for problems like Chicago”.
Critics of stop-and-frisk policies say they violate civil rights and often involve racial profiling. Trump mentioned that such policies have “got to be properly applied”.
