(CHICAGO) In the nationally-watched 6th Congressional District race between Republican incumbent Peter Roskam and his Democratic challenger Sean Casten, the two debated Monday night on channel 11.
Casten likes to dump on Trump but Roskam turned the tables on him by bringing up Casten’s recent interview in the Washington Post, “Sean said he will use any means necessary to gain a majority. And he bound himself to some people who were advocating political blackmail and political slander. I think he should distance himself from these people. This notion of criticizing Donald Trump – and there’s a lot to criticize, I’ve criticized the president publicly – but then to embrace these characters as Sean did in the Wall St Journal article, I think is ridiculous. “
Casten: “Listen, the person I embraced I will stand by this day is Dan Savage, a voice for the LGBT community and particularly the It Gets Better project for teens considering suicide. Mr. Roskam has been a horrible advocate for that community and maybe he doesn’t like that I support them, but I do.”
Millions of dollars have been poured into this race and it’s now rated to be leaning a Democratic.
