(CHICAGO) Mayor Rahm Emanuel is now saying Trump’s “election gimmicks” are damaging the credibility of the office of president across the nation and around the world.
Rahm says Trump is degrading the office of president because we’ve gotten to the point that leaders aren’t taking him seriously.
Exhibit A, he says, is the birthright threat, “Do not take the catnip. I suppose it’s fitting because it’s trick or treat that he wants candy right before the election, but it’s not serious. Even the Speaker of the House put out a statement sying it’s not constitutional. It’s not on the level. Don’t treat it as on the level. What is really degrading to the office not just short term but long term is that everybody is now saying whatever the president says, ignore it.”
Election day will tell us whether Trump talk did get his base out to vote in greater numbers.
