Some of the aldermen wanted to raise the tax you pay when you sell expensive property for either programs for the homeless or to remove lead from city water lines or police and fire pensions.
But the powers that be used a parliamentary procedure – calling a quorum – to block for a second time the advance of such a tax hike.
Alderman Proco Joe Moreno, who backs the tax hike for the homeless, says they should be ashamed.
“Debate it and if you want to vote no, vote no. Doing this kinda stuff is not courageous cause you’re not showing your vote.”
The proceeding were recessed until Tuesday, but without a quorum, the result will be the same.
