(CHICAGO) — The last K-Mart in Chicago city limits, in the Avondale neighborhood, is closing.
Sears announced in October that it was planning to close 142 stores by the end of the year. Another round of closures was announced Thursday that includes another 40 stores. In addition to the Avondale store, sears is closing a Kmart in Cudahy, Wisconsin and Sears stores in downstate Springfield, Janesville, Wisconsin and Michigan City, Indiana.
Clearance sales are expected to start next week.
