(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, only four of the 16 candidates were first in line at 9 AM filing their nominating petitions to get into the lottery to get the top spot on the Feburary 26th ballot.
In the very long line of candidates by 9 am were Toni Preckwinkle, theCounty Board President who chairs the party and is probably the front-runner.
“I’d rather be the front-runner than any other position! (cackles with laughter).”
Then there was the always entertaining Willie Wilson.
“I’m not doin’ like those other guys, running for two offices at the same time!”
Also in line at 9 was Paul Vallas.
“This isn’t my first rodeo, so to speak. I’ve done this on multiple occasions.”
And the quiet candidate was in line, Jerry Joyce, son of political legend Jerimiah Joyce.
“My father discouraged me from running. He said it’s a nasty business nowadays.
