(CHICAGO) At City Hall today, there will be a City Council hearing into the infamous Chicago Public Schools sex scandal involving teachers preying on students.
Conspicuously absent from this hearing will be the CPS CEO Janis Jackson. She says she’ll stand on what she said in July.
“There is no question that CPS failed students in many cases. The facts are not in dispute. To the survivors I say every step of the way we should have listened to you. We should have protected you and in some cases, we failed you. And I’m deeply sorry for that. But I also know that sorry isn’t going to cut it. There are too many victims who were not able to tell their story. Too many victims who were not believed or worse, blamed. But we can never let that happen again.”
Dr. Jackson says she’ll send a CPS team to the hearing, but not herself.
