(CHICAGO) In a shocker at City Hall, the FBI today raided powerful Ald Ed Burke’s City Council Finance Committee offices.
The FBI crawling all over the dean of the city council means somebody’s turned on Burke perhaps to save themselves.
You can’t be in Chicago politics half-a-century without making a lot of enemies.
Ironically, back in 2009, the city council floor leader Ald Pat O’Connor said this about Burke, “He’s the J Edgar Hoover of the city because he knows everything that goes on, everywhere!”
Now J Edgar Hoover’s descendants are combing thru Burke’s records, jeopardizing his re-election and without re-election he can’t serve as chairman of finance even if no charges come from this raid.
