(CHICAGO) — Alderman Ed Burke’s brother, State Rep. Dan Burke (D-Chicago) told reporters in Springfield that he “didn’t have a clue” but that his brother has been abiding by the law for his entire life and career.
A spokeswoman for ex-Burke aide and mayoral candidate Gery Chico says they aren’t commenting but that, “like everyone else, are watching the situation closely.”
Chico was endorsed by Burke last month.
And then there’s this from mayoral candidate and Cook County Clerk Dorothy Brown, who’s been under investigation herself.
“The federal government, they, you know, and people will come and complain like they did on me and told those lies, so they’re going to investigate,” Brown said. “But they never papered over my office and they never came in my house and so this is something that he has to be very concerned about and I think that the citizens of the 14th ward need to be concerned about it as well.”
The raid happened on the same day that Burke’s wife Anne was to be re-sworn in as a State Supreme Court Justice and the last day in the legislature for brother Dan who lost to a challenger in the 2018 primary.
