Federal government workers just found out that certain topics are off limits while on the job, according to a report in the New York Times .
A memo went out on Wednesday to two million federal employees informing them that the word “resist” and any impeachment talk is banned, going so far as to say it’s “illegal for them to participate in such discussions at work.”
Stating that Trump is running for re-election in 2020, bringing up such topics is considered campaigning, either for or against the candidate, which isn’t allowed.
Critics are calling the missive an overreach, with one law professor noting, “This goes beyond past guidance about what partisan political activity is, and is more restrictive of speech of federal employees than past guidance that I’ve been able to find.”
