Michael Carroll thought his father had abandoned him as a baby. Instead, it turns out his dad had been buried in the basement the whole time.
Carroll and his sons came across skeletal human remains in the basement of his childhood home in Suffolk County, NY. Those remains were later identified as his father George Carroll, who disappeared in 1961.
It’s still a mystery what happened to George. Carroll’s mother, who died in 1998, told him he left the house one day and never returned. But investigators found blunt force trauma on the skull and say George might have been murdered.
