(CHICAGO) The new year brings with it more than 200 new laws in Illinois.
The laws taking effect today address car seats, carnivals, hunting fashion and more. Children under 2 must now be in a rear-facing vehicle child seat. Every Illinois school must conduct at least one law enforcement-led active shooter safety drill a year and if the boss makes you take your work home with your and it involves using your personal phone or computer, your boss needs to have a reimbursement policy. That is Senate Bill 2999
Carnival companies must run criminal background checks on ALL employees.
Under House Bill 5745, nursing mothers will be excluded from jury duty, at their request and hunters will have the option of blaze pink as an official hunting color in Illinois – joining the current blaze orange.
Companies that want to do business with state government must have policies on how they address sexual harassment complaints.
Stalking laws expand to include unwanted messages sent and received through social media apps. The new law also allows businesses, places of worship and schools to seek restraining orders against stalkers.
