A Nevada death row inmate whose execution was postponed twice has killed himself in prison.
Scott Dozier, 48, was found dead of an apparent hanging Saturday in his cell at the Ely maximum security prison, authorities say. Dozier had expressed a desire to die and had previously been caught with razor blades and instructions on how to sever the jugular vein in his neck, prison officials say.
Dozier was sentenced to death in 2007 in connection with the murders of two drug associates in Arizona and Nevada. Although he’d been scheduled for lethal injection on two occasions, both were postponed because of a non-related legal battle over the drugs Nevada use for the procedure.
