An Arkansas sheriff’s deputy has been relieved of his duties after a video surfaced that showed him shooting a chihuahua in the face.
The video, which went viral over the weekend, shows Deputy Keenan Wallace firing at the barking dog because it was barking at him. The dog’s owner, who shot the video, can be heard saying, “I just recorded you shooting that dog in front of me, putting me in danger!” Wallace responds, “No I didn’t. The shot hit the dog, what I aimed at.” After reviewing the video, investigators said the deputy had “numerous opportunities to de-escalate” the situation.
Surprisingly, the dog — whose name is Reese’s — survived.
