Colorado has moved a step closer to changing how the state casts its votes for the president after passing a bill along party lines last Tuesday.
Currently, The Centennial State’s nine Electoral College ballots go to the candidate who gets the most votes in Colorado.
Senator Mike Foote wants those to instead go to the winner of the national popular vote. Eleven other states plus the District of Columbia are part of an agreement compact to see this change take place if there is enough support.
The bill will now go to the state’s house for consideration.
