There is new legislation in Washington state that put new restrictions on semi-automatic firearms, but some sheriffs in the state say they will not enforce the new laws until they are deemed constitutional.
The new laws include requiring a minimum age of 21 to purchase any semi-automatic rifle, requiring a purchaser to pass a safety course and expansion of background checks.
The National Rife Association claims the new legislation is unconstitutional.
“I swore an oath to defend our citizens and their constitutionally protected rights,” said Sheriff Tom Jones. “I do not believe the popular vote overrules that.”
