In the other citywide race April 2nd – the one for City Treasurer – Bill Cameron says the candidate who came in third February 26th is endorsing the candidate who came in first.
Peter Gariepy – who got 14% of the vote in round one – is endorsing St Rep Melissa Conyears-Irvin in part because he says he doesn’t like the public bank proposal of the candidate who came in second, Ald Amaya Pawar.
“A public bank whose deposits would only be insured by the taxpayers of Chicago, those very same taxpayers who are on the hook for making those ballooning pension payments.”
But Pawar says his public bank idea is designed to help the little guy with obligations like big student loan debt rather than helping big banks.
