Workers at General Motors’ Ohio plant will be out of work two days earlier than planned — because they were too efficient.
Although GM originally announced it would be closing its plant in Lordstown on Friday, a spokesman on Monday said production of the Chevrolet Cruze is ahead of schedule, allowing executives to shutter the building on Wednesday instead.
The Ohio location is the first of five U.S. closures planned by GM, which will leave 15,000 people unemployed.
