On Tuesday, Sen. Bernie Sanders signed a pledge promising that he’ll run for President as a Democrat in 2020.
It’s easy to forget that Sanders is not technically a Democrat, but an Independent who caucuses with Senate Democrats.
But a new rule passed by the DNC requires anyone seeking the 2020 Democratic nomination must run as a member of their party. Many think that rule was passed specifically because of Sanders.
Sanders officially announced his 2020 campaign last month and raised more than $6 million in his first 24 hours.
