A Dallas man has been arrested after he was caught on video beating a woman in a parking dispute.
The incident occurred Thursday night after 24-year-old L’Daijohnique Lee dropped off a friend in a parking lot, where she momentarily blocked a vehicle from backing out of a parking space, according to a police report. The driver of that vehicle, 30-year-old Austin Shuffield, then approached Lee with a gun in his hand, Lee says. “I got scared,” Lee tells Essence . “I was like, ‘You have a gun?’ The first thing I thought to do was call the police.”
But, as revealed in a video taken by a bystander, Shuffield swatted the phone from her hand. Lee reacted by hitting Shuffield, prompting him to retaliated by punching her in the face several times. She was taken to a nearby hospital, where she’s recovering from a concussion and cranial swelling, her lawyer says. Shuffield was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, public intoxication and interfering with a 911 call.
