After desperate pleas from the U.S., China is finally cracking down on the spread of the synthetic opioid fentanyl.
Beginning May 1st, China will add all fentanyl-related products to its list of controlled narcotics, something the U.S. asked for during trade talks late last year.
Fentanyl is one of the fastest-spreading drugs in the U.S. and a major factor in the opioid crisis. U.S. authorities believe much of it comes from China, although Chinese officials deny it.
